Set the amount of influence bones

Hi, I work with the game engine Unity, and sadly this engine has a limit as to how many bones may influence the mesh. I was just wondering if it's possible to set the maximum amount of bones too. Like for instance, to set the maximum to 3 bones, which would be like setting it to 4 joints.

    Couldn't you do a pre-bind with the number of joints set to 3 and then run this script? I don't know because I haven't tested it, but that may be a possibility.
