I think it'll be cool if you can add some import/export rig and skin weight feature on it for copying the rig to other characters. I'd be faster to make a lot of characters.

Dude, that video is describing such a long way of doing things.
Just import the other character and copy your skin weights. -Way better than exporting your skin weights to files!
Steps:
Open Rigged (but not skinWeighted character)
Import Rigged and skinWeighted character
Select skinWeighted character, add select non skinWeighted character
Copy Skin Weights.
Export Rigged and skinWeighted character.
Done.
It would be pointless to write a script for this, its just too simple. And it will only work if your characters are very similar to one another.
Its not a versatile solution.
The only thing is to just skin your characters.
Slap on is a good production rig, but you need rigging knowledge to be properly functional to be a Charachter Technical artist.
