Just a out of curiosity why did you just distribute the pyc files. I mean it don't take a brain surgeon to disassemble the code form the executed state.
But you be surprised how well it decompiles back to human readable code. test at: https://www.depython.net. Not that i would but just so you know.
So just to be on the safe side include some copyrights if code protection is your issue ;) Otherwise you'd probably be better of distributing the source under some strict conditions as this way someone can benefit form it long after you've ended upgrading it.
Anyway the default mental ray node set has a node that does the same thing but better with bend towards least occlusion.
