Overkill right? This node outputs a vector that you can plug into anything you like (translation / rotation / scale for example).

Creates a vector based on either sine or perlin noise. It's fast as buggery. Helper mel script that makes the connections for you.

Usage:
1. Place the .py plug-in into your Maya plug-ins folder. 2. Place the sinNoiseNode.mel file into your Maya scripts folder eg. /Applications/Autodesk/maya2012/Maya.app/Contents/scripts/ 3. Place the AEsineNodeTemplate.mel into your AETemplates folder eg. /Applications/Autodesk/maya2012/Maya.app/Contents/scripts/AETemplates/ 3. Load the plug-in [Window > Settings/ Prefrences > Plug-in Manager 4. Source the Mel script 5. Select an object translate, check a checkbox, and click 'Create'.
