MATTECHECK - A simple but useful macro that takes a FG (RGB-A) and matte (optional) and overs it over a definable colour. Why? Its enables you to easily check the quality of the edge of a roto, key. It was a work ethic I used to encourage while at the BBC, making sure that rotos were checked against black, mid and white bgs (plus other colours) to spot any edging artifacts that have been missed.
Also can double up as an edge grade if you make the bg a suitable colour for the fg.
ie comp a graded fg into this node then recomp further down the script.
