I noticed in the video that aafter you lined up the rig with the character you clicked on rig extras.  why?  i aske because i don´t hear the sound and why I don´t care for videos, do you have a step by step on text?

okay I found a text tutorial. but it says after clicking on the "generate rig", I should get a message that says, "rig completed" well I didn´t, which is not surprising. so I can´t go any further until I get that message? if that´s the case I will be working this all year.

am I adding mesh to my selection, when I go to skin, bind slin, smooth skin? or is that a different step? and, I´ve tried to select my model, even clicking on the surface square, but with all these circles on the arm and body, it ain´t happening so I can´t select the model. but none of this matters if I can´t get the message, "rig completed".

and how do I do this? -make sure "Bind to:" is set to "Selected joints" I don´t see that option under skin.

Hi, that written tutorial is quite old. I have never gotten around to updating it with the latest version. The rig extras tab is fairly self explanatory based on the button names. However, if need a more detailed description, move your cursor over the buttons. The help line in the bottom left of your Maya window will give you additional information about the action of each button in the Rapid Rig UI. If you are using the latest version of the rig, you should see a message that says "CONGRATULATIONS! RIG COMPLETED!" There is also a second window asking you if you want to create a single joint hierarchy. To skin your mesh, you must first click "Select Skinning Joints". You need to have the name of the rig in the "Step 2.5" text field. You can manually type the name of your rig, or you can select a control of your rig and click "Load Rig". Once you have the proper name loaded and you click "Select Skinning Joints", a pop-up window may appear if you chose to create a single joint hierarchy. That will have selected your joints. Next, you need to shift-select your mesh, and then skin your character. Use what ever skinning method you want. If you want to bind to selected joints with a smooth bind, you need to be in the Animation menu, then go Skin>Bind Skin>Smooth Bind and click on the option box. In the options window, at the very top, you have "Bind To:". Here is where you choose to "Selected joints". The skinning is no different than how you would skin any character to a typical joint-based rig. I will try to update my written tutorial as soon as I can. Dustin
