If you model with polygons in maya YOU WANT this tool! The others who said Maya can already do this don't get it. Maya supports custom axis with the MOVE tool, but THIS gives you a quick custom axis with ROTATE & SCALE as well! This tool is worth learning. Once you use it, you'll use it all the time... I couldn't go a day without it. Thank you SO much for writing this. Why the Maya programmers don't include this functionality by default is beyond me... -

radcliff: I responded to you about 3 months ago, never heard from you from that time. jordanoth: I am not sure you can do even third of things you can with local tools with standard Maya.. I would suggest checking the demo video for more detail :) Arkadius: Please read the manual carefully. When installing, it's important to add the "source HKLocalTools;" line to your userSetup.mel, for full guide check this: https://www.henrykorol.net/Scripts/LocalTools/LTDocInstallation.htm -

ive been doing that since maya 8 with just a combination of middle click snapping (grid, curve, vertex) of the pivot point.. seems like a good idea tho.. -

I was looking forward to using this tool, but I've been having problems with it. I'm using Maya 8.5 on an Intel MacPro. First, I have trouble getting the 2 point/object reference option to work consistently. Occasionally it works fine, but sometimes it takes the first object selected as a reference, and then adds the second object to the "local tool" group as an object to be moved. Second, if the object I want to adjust is a group, when I "bake to object" it tells me "Error: Cannot use data of type no type in a scalar operation." And then it ungroups my objects. Third, When I do get the "2 object reference" to work the position is often not on the line between the pivot points of the two objects. It's slightly off to one side. Which side and by how much seems to depend on where the object is in relation to the world-space origin. Fourth, even though I changed the line in my userSetup.mel to read "source HKLocalTools.mel;" I still have to manually source the script every time I start up Maya. Any suggestions? yours, Matt R mrradcliff (at) verizon (dot) com -

I really don't know how i lived without it!Amazing tool that finally brings much needed functionality to mayas toolset. My only problem is I have had trouble running it on a couple of linux boxes where the tool works fine but I am unable access the drop down menu items in the HKLTOptionBox meaning I cant turn on Use Pivot Orientation Only. Perhaps this could be included as another on-screen HUD Display button Otherwise, great stuff though -

I can't remember how many times I have thought the move tool MM is missing a few things and with the referncing of other components that this sweet add-on makes possible it's finally taken care of. one thing though somehow in 8.5 I get a FATAL ERROR after selecting the reference component. ** Edit ** Wow, that was fast! It's working now. Thanks again.
