What does the scripts editor returns if you write this in the command line (python) : import maya.cmds as cmds; cmds.optionVar(q="playblastFormat") -

I run your script,it returns "# Error: invalid syntax # " I think the error may be in the flag "q=“playblastFormat”" Your script is exactly what I need, but I think if it can mark time, user name, frame, resolution on the playblast vadio,it will be perfect! -

I tried to reproduce the error. It seems that it happens when the playblast's optionsVar has never been set (for example if you just installed maya, or deleted the maya/2014-x64 folder to reset it). Try to create a playblast first to initialize the options (set the format to qt or avi, not "image") and then you should be able to run the script. I'll try to fix that issue in the next version. Let me know if it works. I'll think about your suggestion to add informations directly on the videos, maybe with an optionnal HUD in the viewport during the recording of the playblast.
