Thanks mattschiller. I've applied a wrap deformer to the beard mesh. Everything works fine except export to fbx. I've fixed the problem by copying skin weight using closest point to surface option. -

From my testing, I have found copy skin weights using the closest point on surface option produces nearly identical results with hardly any calculation time. -
