This tool is similar to the ones that you can easily find in the places like high end 3d and so on. But I thought I would give a go with my way adding a slightly more functionalities.

Basically it mamages UV Sets of multiple objects at once.

Most of the functions are self explainatory so I wont go into the details on how they work. Just experiment them to see what happens.

One thing that I want to point out is that all the functions works for the list that is loaded in this tool, regardless of what your current Maya selection is.

This tool comes especially handy when you have lots of objects that has a particular uvset (eg : lightmap) and you want to select them. You can also mass create a uvset to the objects loaded in the list.

I also like swap function. It does so by creating a temp uvset and copies around the uvset and then deletes the temp uvset to archive this.

You can also click on the uvset name for the individual object to change its current uv set.

Only thing at the moment is that it takes a while to generate UI for lots of objects so use with caution. I think I need to find better method of representing them. Or option to not create UI for the list. Any suggestions welcome.

How to run this scipt :

  • Copy the script to your usual script folder. This could be your default Maya script folder under My documents
  • Source the file if necessary by typing : source Cas_uvSetShow and then pressing crtl+enter in the script editor
  • Run script : select some objects and type Cas_uvSetShowUI and then pressing crtl+enter in the script editor
  • Combine both source and command into one short cut button on your shelf for easy access next time
