I create this simple earth with glowing atmosphere and stars in background for a project not a long ago in maya 2011 but it can also be use in anykind version of maya, just activate the ignore version. I use free textures that i've got from the internet. so I gave it for free. the scene is animated but you can delete the key and make your own rotation earth, the scene file also contain separate render passes, some planets and moon texture are also included. btw you can change the glowing intensity by modify the ramp teksture in hypershade.
