RRM biped performance vs RRA

Date:02/21/2018
Submitted by: Davide Alidosi Davide Alidosi
Hi Dustin,
I have noticed a huge performance between biped template in RRM vs RRA on a simple hip animation (no skin just a single rig in a empty scene) RRA run at around 120 FPS and RRM hit only around 40 FPS.
Can you please investigate?

RRA is streamlined to only work for bipeds so the architecture is very different from RRM. Where it excels in being fast, it is lacking in customization. This is why RRA and RRM are separate products. A lot of users need a standard biped that is fast and easy to set up. Whereas other users want something more robust and customizable, even if that means slower performance.

There are ways of optomizing an RRM rig; disabling toon arms/legs, disabling ik in the fk chains, turning off Debugging Channels, using fk chains for the neck and or spine, etc.
