Custom hotkeys get replaced every new version

Windows 10 Pro x64. Maya 2017+

So my issue is as follows.

I have my own hotkeys which are a combination of my own and May9's (cant't live without my own hotkeys). The problem is that every time a new version is out and I replace the current with this new version, my custom hotkey combination is replaced by May9's only hotkeys, this has happened since... forever I think. My workaround is saving my hotkeys, starting Maya (any version 2017+), my kotkeys get replaced. Close Maya and manually replace mel files in the hotkey folder under prefs with my backup. Is there any way to prevent this from happening.
I don't know if this is the expected behaviour but it does not work for me.

Note: I guess you can check if userHotkeys_May9_Next.mel file already exists and if it does, don't set May9's hotkeys. I really don't want dig in the code and edit it to achieve this and prefer an 'official' workaround so I don't have to do this every time a new version is out.

Cheers!  Thanks for sharing. Keep it up!

Hi Charlie, the system is a bit more complicated, the hotkey will be replaced when new version coming out by check a variable called $may9Value.
The problem is related to how the hotkey set work in Maya, my suggestion is uninstall and reinstall May9 instead of update it.
