1st Steps...

I think I've set the hierarchy filter properly I think. When I select the root of my rig and test the filter it selects the controls. It's going great.

I'm having problems then mirroring any poses however. I'm not sure if there's a step I'm missing. I select the lists of controls on either side in the same order as your video describes yet I'm not making any progress in mirroring even two control's attributes. I'm not seeing any of the Extra Attributes, and I'm wondering if I have to do that myself or if that's something that the plugin should be adding.

Is there some obvious step I've missed? It's been a while since I've used Maya for anything (I'm on 2014), so perhaps I have but I can't see what's going wong.

If you've followed the tutorial on Vimeo where I add the mirror markers then you SHOULD have those mirror attrs on the controllers? You say you're getting nothing? You can mail me if you'd like and I'll take a look, see if there's something obvious going wrong with your setup Mark

I apologise for not posting this earlier. I spent a few hours yesterday going through the process again and I seem to have it all working now. I'm not sure why it didn't appear to have extra attributes the first day but no doubt I'd missed some small detail. I now have the character mirroring poses perfectly across all controls. Now that I have a grasp on how to use the tools I'll probably be using them a lot more in the future and recommending them to others. Thanks for the response and for such a handy set of tools. :)
